![]() ![]() ![]() So that cake was a total flop, but I will be making it again because the batter was sooooo good I know it will be an amazing cake. I learned when a recipe calls for self-rising flour you cannot use regular all-purpose flour. (or eat it all by myself) Then I realized it called for self-rising flour. Once open, baking powder and baking soda should be used within. There was no way I could serve this cake. Measuring by weight will ensure that you have the correct amount of flour in any recipe. The center was like dough and all stuck together. After I mixed all the ingredients together and baked it for 45 minutes (it was in a loaf pan), when I pulled it out of the oven it looked fine until I cut in to it. I spent extra time mixing the ingredients one-by-one as the recipe called for, I even got up early to make it because I was so excited to see how it was going to turn out. Yesterday I made a delicious strawberry cake. To be clear, make sure you use baking powder, NOT baking soda, because there is a big difference. If you have all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt you can make your own. It may sounds unappealing, but coating chicken wings in seasoned baking powder is what makes the skin super crispy.You wont taste it in the end results, so long as you use aluminium-free. No need to worry if you are out of self-rising flour in the middle of making a recipe.
